About The Department
The department of Computer Science and Engineering offers an undergraduate engineering degree program since the establishment of the university named 'West Bengal University of Technology' in the year 2001 (now renamed Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology,) with a view to offer quality higher education to numerous worthy young fellows as well as to meet the gigantic demand of highly qualified specialists in the field.
The department also offers postgraduate engineering degree program since the year 2011. The university curriculum aims to give theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of Advances of computer science. A post-graduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering is a must if students aspire to set himself / herself apart from the anonymous mass of "computer professionals" and to assume a leading role in transforming the industry, be it through research, advanced development, teaching, or entrepreneurship.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is continuing this legacy by advancing the frontiers of computing. We have a three-fold mission: to create, disseminate knowledge, and to provide service to our communities. On the research front, our faculty, staff, and students are exploring innovative ideas in various areas of computer science.
The Department has a comprehensive university curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is updated and includes courses on nascent topics to equip our students with the latest developments in Computer Science and Engineering.

Welcome from Head of the Department
Welcome to the site of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, Kolkata.
Greetings! On behalf of the Faculty & Lab Members, Staff, and Students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT).
The department prepares undergraduate and post-graduate students for productive careers in industry, academia, and government by providing an excellent environment for teaching & learning in the theory and applications of computing science. Students graduated from this department are employed in different prestigious institutions and organizations home and abroad. A good number of our graduates have completed postgraduate programs including doctoral programs with brilliant performances at highly ranked universities around the world. The department has a good number of young and experienced full-time faculty members with best available exposure to ever-growing horizon of computer science and engineering. Besides, a number of part-time faculties also teach in each semester from other universities, research organizations and industrial establishments for extending experience-rich education. The department has equipped with 6 computer laboratories with high configuration computing systems, one research laboratory and separate hardware laboratory with electronic devices. The department organizes various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop important social and professional faculties in the students. The department has developed its own laboratories which include seven specialized Computer labs for undergraduate students, one research lab for postgraduate students equipped with modern personal computers and separate Computer Organization lab fully equipped with electronic devices. There is a server center attached to the department which is equipped with various PC-server systems for providing network facilities to the labs and offices all over the college campus. We try our best to produce responsible computer engineers with good ethics, to serve our nation and across the entire world.
